Istanbul:  Another earthquake worries Turkey.  A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck Yesilurt in southern Turkey’s Malatya province.

 One person died and 69 others were injured in the earthquake.  The mayor of Yesilurt stated that many buildings were destroyed by the earthquake.

 It was reported that 48,000 people died in the massive earthquakes that occurred in Turkey and Syria on February 6.  Three weeks after the devastating earthquake, the earthquake struck again.

 International news agencies reported that many buildings damaged in previous earthquakes collapsed in the new quake.

Akash Tillankeri was arrested on Kappa charges

Kochi: Quotation leader Akash Tillankeri arrested.  Akash was arrested by Muzhakkunn police on Kappa charges.  Akash Tillankeri was taken into custody by the police from his home in the evening.

 Akash is an accused in four cases in the past one month, including insulting a DYFI woman worker, in Muzukkunn and Mattannur police stations.

59 dead after refugee boat capsizes in Italy

Rom: 59 dead, 40 rescued after a boat carrying refugees capsizes off Calabria, Italy.  The search is on to find out if more people were involved in the accident.
It is reported that around 150 people were in the boat. The dead included children and women. The bodies of 27 people were found washed up on the shore.

People from Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan were on the boat. The accident happened when there was a short distance to land. The cause of the accident was bad weather and the boat hit a rock.

At the same time, Italy’s Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said that the illegal delivery of refugees will be strictly prevented. Refugees arrive in Europe via the Mediterranean Sea in Italy. This is a very dangerous waterway. 20,333 people trying to cross this route to Europe have been killed or disappeared since 2014 alone.

Actress assault case; Pulsar Suni’s bail plea adjourned for judgment

Kochi:  High Court adjourned Pulsar Suni’s bail plea in the actress assault case. The High Court said that the bail petition is being considered as per the instructions of the Supreme Court. Various judgments favor the right of the accused.
The court also pointed out that bail will become a right when the accused remains in jail without trial for six years. But the government asked the court not to grant bail to Pulsar Suni.

Last time, the High Court had directed that statements against Pulsar Suni, including those of the survivor,  should be produced in the petition. Pulsar Suni argues that he is eligible for bail as he has been an undertrial prisoner for six years.

At the same time, the trial court judge Honey M Varghese asked the Supreme Court for another six months to complete the witness examination in the case. Dileep gave an affidavit in the Supreme Court showing that the reasons given by the prosecution for the trial are false. Dileep also objected to questioning Kavya Madhavan’s father and mother.

12 people arrested for spreading porn videos of children

Thiruvananthapuram:  Kerala Police has taken strict action against sexual crimes against children. Police have arrested 12 people for spreading porn videos and pictures of children between the ages of five and fifteen years. According to the police, those caught in the raid conducted across the state are high-ranking professionals working in the IT sector. As part of investigating crimes against children, 142 cases were registered across the state on Sunday alone. 270 devices including mobile phones, modems, hard disks, memory cards, laptops, and computers have been seized.

The police said that they have received information that children are being trafficked for sex. The police also stated that they got the information about it from the messages on the seized devices. The gang uses encrypted handles to upload and download videos and images of children. Police are also collecting details of other persons who circulated the pictures and videos. The police said that strong action will be taken against all the persons involved in this racket and there will be no compromise in this matter.

Simultaneous raids were conducted across the state from Sunday morning under the supervision of district police chiefs. Cyberdom IGP P Prakash appealed to the public to inform the CCSE, Cyberdom, and Cybercell if they get information about any social media groups or individuals spreading child sexual content. Viewing, distributing, or keeping any indecent images or pictures of children is a criminal offense punishable with imprisonment of up to 5 years and a fine of up to INR 10 lakh.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia arrested

New Delhi:  Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has been arrested by the CBI in the Delhi liquor policy corruption case. The arrest was made after being called to the CBI headquarters and interrogated for eight hours. The interrogation began at 11 am at the CBI office on Lodhi Road in Central Delhi.

The CBI registered Sisodia’s arrest three months after the charge sheet was filed in the Delhi Liquor Policy 2021-2022 case. Vijay Kumar Saxena, who was the Lt. Governor of Delhi, has announced a CBI investigation into the allegations of corruption in the liquor policy.

Manish Sisodia is the fourth person to be arrested in connection with the case. AAP’s communication in-charge Vijay Nair, Indo Spirit Group’s Sameer Mahendru, and Hyderabad-based businessman Abhishek Boinpally were earlier arrested by the central agency in connection with the case. The CBI had made Sisodia and 14 others accused in connection with the liquor policy.

It is alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party used the money obtained through the scam for the election campaign in Goa. The liquor policy implemented on November 17, 2021, was withdrawn by the Aam Aadmi government in July 2022 following the controversy.

Siddu Moosaiwala Murder Case Accused Killed; Death occurred during the conflict in the prison

Chandigarh: Punjabi singer Siddu Moosaiwala’s murder accused in jail. It is reported that two accused were killed during a clash between gangsters in the jail. The deceased have been identified as Tufan alias Mandeep Singh and Mohana alias Manmohan Singh. Another inmate named Keshav was admitted to the hospital with injuries. All three are accused in the Muisawala murder case.

On May 28, 2022, singer Siddu Moosaiwala was killed in Jawahar Keil, Mansa, Punjab. Moosewala was shot dead within 24 hours of the AAP government withdrawing security. The attack took place while he was traveling with his friends in a car from Manasa to his own village. The attackers fired 30 rounds at the car. Two friends were also injured.

Earthquake again in Gujarat, fourth in a week

Ahmedabad: Earthquake in Rajkot, Gujarat. According to the National Center for Seismology, there was an earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale. No casualties or damages have been reported in the earthquake so far.

This is the 5th earthquake to be reported in Gujarat in 8 days. The Center for Seismology stated that three small earthquakes were recorded in Gujarat’s Amreli district in two days. Earthquakes measuring 3.4, 3.1 and 3.1 on the Richter scale were reported in Mithiyala village of Savarkundla taluk of Amreli district. A 3.4 magnitude earthquake was also felt in Khambha in Saurashtra region on Thursday night. Before that, on February 19, an earthquake of magnitude 2.2 was felt in Khambha region.

Amreli district alone has reported around 400 minor earthquakes in the last two years. The January 2001 earthquake in Gujarat’s Kutch district, located in the Saurashtra region, killed 13,800 people and injured 1.67 lakh. The earthquake caused huge damage in various cities and villages of the district.

Chance of high waves and storm surge on Kerala coast; caution

Thiruvananhapuram: The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has warned that there is a possibility of high waves and sea storms on the Kerala coast till 11:30 tonight. The State Disaster Management Authority has stated that fishermen and coastal residents should be cautious.

As rough seas are likely to intensify, people should stay away from the danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities. Keep fishing vessels safely moored in the harbour. Keeping a safe distance between boats can avoid the risk of collision. Safety of fishing vessels and equipment should be ensured. The Disaster Management Authority has also informed that trips to the beach and recreation in the sea should be completely avoided.

The warning is that a high wave of 1.0 to 1.5 meters is possible. At the same time, officials of the weather department informed that there is no hindrance to fishing in Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts.

Air India plane has another technical problem

Thiruvananthapuram: Air India flight from Dubai to Thiruvananthapuram is delayed indefinitely, leaving passengers stranded. Air India flight IX 544, which was scheduled to depart at 9 pm last night, has not yet taken off. Passengers were at the airport all night last night. About 150 passengers including women and children were distressed due to the delay of the flight.

Air India explained that the flight was delayed due to a technical fault. Officials informed that the flight will depart at 1 pm after the fault is rectified.

The Air India flight which departed from Karipur at 9:45 yesterday for Dammam had to make an emergency landing at Thiruvananthapuram airport at 12:15 due to a technical problem. The plane continued its journey to Dammam five hours after the fault was fixed.
