Saudi calls for immediate ceasefire in Gaza

Saudi Arabia demands immediate ceasefire in Gaza conflict with Israel.  The death toll in Gaza continues to rise as Israel attacks.  In this situation, Saudi Arabia has come to demand a ceasefire.  Saudi needs to give priority to avoid humanitarian disaster.

 During the Israel-Hamas conflict, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken had a discussion with the Saudi Foreign Minister, and the Saudi Foreign Minister expressed Saudi’s position on the issue of calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.  In front of the UN Security Council, Saudi Arabia has clarified its position demanding a ceasefire in Gaza.

 At the same time, Saudi Arabia had previously opposed Israel’s attack on Gaza.  Earlier, Saudi Arabia demanded immediate withdrawal of the embargo imposed on Gaza, including water, electricity and food.  Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has stressed the need to end the conflict and bring peace back to the region.

 The Crown Prince had made it clear that urgent intervention was needed to stop the military operations that cost innocent lives.  The Crown Prince stated that Saudi Arabia is ready to create conditions for the restoration of peace in the region and the realization of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

ODI World Cup: India beat Pakistan

Ahmedabad: India beat Pakistan easily in ODI World Cup match.  India chased down the target of 192 runs set by Pakistan in just 30.3 overs.  Only 3 wickets were lost.

 Shubman Gill, who came to the team after recovering from fever, became the opener along with Rohit Sharma.  India started with a bang in the first overs.  Shubman Gill was dismissed after scoring 16 runs, but Virat Kohli, who came next, supported Rohit.

 India’s top scorer is Rohit Sharma who scored 86 runs.  A firework innings that included six fours and six sixes off 63 balls.  By the time 9.5 overs were reached, Kohli returned with 16 runs.  Shreyas Iyer followed with 53 runs and KL Rahul 19 runs to lead India to victory in 30.3 overs.

 Rohit Sharma gets out in 21.4 overs when he seems to be rushing towards his second consecutive century.

 Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi took two wickets.  Hasan Ali took a wicket.

 Earlier, losing the toss and batting first, Pakistan crashed dramatically from the base to score 280-300 runs.  The team lost only two wickets while scoring 155 runs, and the next eight wickets fell in a span of 36 runs.

 Pakistan were all out for 191 runs in 42.5 overs.  Pakistan captain Babar Azam (50) is the top scorer with a half-century.

 Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja took 2 wickets each for India.

 Pakistan opener Abdullah Shafiq scored 20 runs, Imam-ul-Kah scored 36 runs and Mohammad Rizwan scored 49 runs.  All the others except Hasan Ali, who scored 12 runs, were out in single runs.

 This is the second lowest score by Pakistan against India in the ODI World Cup.  The lowest score was 180 in 1999.

Israeli airstrikes: 344 people died in Gaza in 24 hours

Tel Aviv: Hamas says 344 people have been killed in Gaza in the last 24 hours as Israeli airstrikes against Hamas continue.  126 children and 88 women were killed.  Hamas also confirmed that 1,018 people were injured.

 Israel has asked the Palestinian people to leave Gaza City within 24 hours.  As a result, many people are fleeing from Gaza.  Meanwhile, Israel came forward with the claim that Hamas had killed Murad Abu Murad, a senior military commander.  Murad oversaw Hamas’s airstrikes.  But Hamas has not confirmed Abu Murad’s death.

Forgery Passport Racket;  CBI raids 50 places in West Bengal and Sikkim

New Delhi: CBI raids West Bengal and Sikkim for fake passport related racket.  The raids are taking place at 50 places in both the states.  The investigation was conducted after receiving information about the passport racket.

 CBI has registered a case against 24 people in the incident.  It is reported that government officials are also included among them.  The case is for granting passport on the basis of forged documents.

 The CBI is conducting raids in various places including Kolkata, Siliguri and Gangtok.  It is reported that some private individuals have obtained and issued passports with the help of government officials by producing forged documents.  The investigation is ongoing.  The authorities also stated that many people are under suspicion.

Operation Ajay: The second flight with Indians will arrive in New Delhi tomorrow

New Delhi: As part of ‘Operation Ajay’, the second flight from Israel to India will arrive at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport tomorrow (14/10/2023) at 5.30 am.  20 people have registered on the Kerala House website expressing their interest in coming to Kerala.  Information has been received that 16 Malayalis are arriving on the flight.

 Meanwhile, the first batch of Malayalees returned from the battlefield of Israel.  Five people returned home via Norka and two on their own.  The students responded to the media that they can go back if peace is restored in Israel.

Israel-Hamas conflict: High alert in Delhi

New Delhi: Due to the war between Israel and Hamas, Delhi is on high alert.  The caution is in anticipation of the possibility of pro-Palestinian protests.  Security has been increased in front of the Israeli embassy and at Jewish places of worship.  States were instructed to provide security for Jewish residences.  Delhi Police informed that steps have been taken to avoid untoward incidents.

 Hamas claims 13 hostages killed in Israeli attack on Gaza  Those killed will include Israeli citizens and foreign nationals.  Hamas took about 150 hostages.  The Israeli army ordered 1.1 million people in northern Gaza to move to southern Gaza within 24 hours.  The UN responded that evacuation was impractical.  At the same time, Hamas responded that if Israel starts a ground war, it will defend like never before.

Manipur conflict;  Internet ban extended till October 16

Imphal: Conflict again in Manipur.  Clashes broke out in Imphal East and Kangpokpi.  Three people were injured.  Meitei armed group was firing in Kangpokpi.

 Meanwhile, the Manipur government has banned the dissemination of videos and pictures of the riots that started on May 3 through social media.  The government claims that the action was taken citing the law and order situation in the state.  Prior to this, the internet ban was again extended till October 16.

Government order increase compensation in Vizhinjam project

Thiruvananthapuram:  Government order to increase the compensation in Vizhinjam project.  The compensation amount has been increased to Rs 4.20 lakh for the Kattamara workers who lost their livelihood partially as part of the project work.  53 workers will get compensation under this item. The government has sanctioned 2 crore 22 lakh rupees for this purpose.

 The compensation amount was recommended by the appeal committee meeting chaired by the district collector.  The amount has been sanctioned by the government for 7 years during which the construction has taken 180 working days per year.  In the discussion held by the fishermen with the government, they demanded to increase the compensation amount.

Cyclone over southern Tamil Nadu;  Rain will continue in Kerala for the next five days

Thiruvananthapuram: The Central Meteorological Department has said that rain will continue in the state for the next 5 days due to the presence of a cyclone over southern Tamil Nadu.  Yellow alert has been declared in 10 districts from Thiruvananthapuram to Malappuram today.  Light to moderate rain is forecast at isolated places.

 The Central Oceanic Research Center has issued a warning of high waves and storm surges along Kerala coast and south Tamil Nadu coast.  Due to the possibility of wind speed of 40 to 45 kmph, a ban on fishing has been imposed on the shores of Lakshadweep.  However, there will be no disruption to fishing along Kerala-Karnataka coasts.

Setback to News Click: Delhi HC rejects Prabir Purakayastha’s plea

New Delhi: News Click, which is waging a legal battle against the central government, has suffered a setback.  The Delhi High Court dismissed the plea filed by founder Prabir Purakayastha and HR chief Amit Chakraborty.  The petition questioned the Delhi Police’s arrest.
