Modi government was sworn in for third term

The third Modi government was sworn in and assumed power. President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Narendra Modi in a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. After Modi, Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, JP Nadda and others were also sworn in. Reports say that the third Modi government has a 72-member cabinet.

 The swearing-in ceremony of the third NDA government also saw a high foreign representation. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Maldives President Mohammad Muisu, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnath, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal have also been invited. World leaders including US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin have extended their greetings. Actors Rajinikanth and Mohanlal have also been invited.

 Around 2500 police and paramilitary units have been deployed near the venue. In Delhi, there will be restrictions on airspace from 3 pm to 11 pm. Around a thousand people like religious priests, lawyers, doctors, artists, cultural workers and beneficiaries of central government schemes came to witness the oath-taking ceremony.

Praful Patel refused the ministry post

MUMBAI: NCP MP Praful Patel has turned down the ministerial post offered to him in the third cabinet led by Narendra Modi.  He was a cabinet minister in the UPA cabinet.  The proposed membership in the cabinet has been rejected on the basis of the assessment that he is now being called to be made a minister of state.

 Praful Patel is coming to Parliament as a representative of NCP led by Ajit Pawar.  He was a part of Sharad Pawar’s party during the UPA cabinet.

 Patel revealed that he received the promise to be made Minister of State with independent charge on Saturday night.  The difference of opinion in this regard has been communicated to the BJP leadership.  The reply received is to wait a few days.  Patel added that they have promised to find a solution.

 Ajit Pawar and Praful Patel’s party NCP has won only one seat out of 48 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra.

A terrorist attack on a vehicle carrying a pilgrim group in Jammu and Kashmir;  10 people are reported to have been killed

 New Delhi: A terrorist attack on a vehicle carrying a group of pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir.  It is reported that ten people were killed in the accident.  The attack took place in Reazi district of Kashmir.  After the firing, the bus lost control and overturned towards ravine.  Rescue operations are being carried out by security forces and local people.

Patient beaten up in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital;  Sergeant Suspended

 THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the incident where a patient was beaten up by the security staff at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital, the principal of Medical College has suspended the sergeant. 

 A native of Peroorkada Mannamula B. Sreekumar had  beaten up by security officer.  Footage of this was circulated on social media.  On the 16th of last month, the young man, who suffered from epilepsy, was taken to the Peroorkada hospital by his friend and then to the medical college.  It is alleged that after being brought to the ambulance, when the friend went to call his mother, he was beaten and kicked out by the security personnel.  It is clear in the footage that two men in uniform and one without uniform brutally beat them.

A one-year-old child was beaten up in Mannar;  Mother’s arrest was recorded

 The police registered the arrest of the child’s mother in the case of beating a one-year-old child in Alappuzha, Mannar.  Last night, she took the footage of the child being beaten and sent it to her husband, asking him to pay the expenses for the children.

 Anisha is the fourth wife of her husband Mujeeb.  After marriage, Mujeeb went abroad.  Locals say that Mujeeb is a marriage fraudulent.  

 As soon as the footage of the brutal beating of a one-year-old child came to light, the women was called to the Mannar station and the process of her arrest was started.  The Child Rights Commission and the Child Welfare Society came to know about the incident.  Anisha has two children and it has been directed to hand over these two children to the Child Welfare Committee.

 The child’s mother will be remanded today.  The child’s mother told the police that the financial difficulties due to non-payment of expenses led to the beating.  The Child Rights Commission has asked the district police chief to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

Uttarakhand trucking accident: Malayalees among the dead

 Dehradun: It is reported that Malayalees were among the group from Karnataka who died in an accident while trekking in the lake region of Uttarakhand.  They have been identified as Asha Sudhakar (71), a Malayali living in Jakoor, Bengaluru, and VK Sindhu (45), a resident of Cherpulasheri, Palakkad.  Deceased Sindhu was a software engineer.  Asha Sudhakar is a retired Senior Manager from SBI.

 The trekking route traveled by 9 members was closed due to bad weather.  5 dead bodies have been recovered from the spot.  The search is on for the other 4 missing people.

 A 22-member team went to Uttarakhand for trekking on May 29 through the Karnataka Trucking Association.  Out of this 13 people have been rescued.  The accident happened last Tuesday night.  Due to bad weather, the trucking route they were traveling on was getting closed.

Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rain warning in the state today.  Meteorological department has declared yellow alert in 8 districts.  Yellow alert has been announced by the meteorological department in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur Kasaragod districts.

 Heavy rain is forecast across the state on Friday.  As part of vigilance, yellow alert has been announced in ten districts.  There is rain warning in the districts except Pathanamthitta, 

Swapna Suresh granted bail in defamation case filed by MV Govindan

 Kannur: Swapna Suresh granted bail in defamation case filed by CPM state secretary MV Govindan.  Bail was granted by Thaliparamb Magistrate Court.  Another accused in the case, Vijesh Pillai, had already got bail.

 The case was filed against Swapna’s allegation that MV Govindan offered Rs 30 crore through Vijesh Pillai to withdraw from gold smuggling allegations against the Chief Minister and his family.  Meanwhile, Swapna Suresh said that she stands by the allegations against MV Govindan.

The World Health Organization has confirmed the world’s first human death from bird flu

 New Delhi: The World Health Organization has confirmed the world’s first human death due to bird flu.  The deceased is a 59-year-old native of Mexico.  He died on April 24.  He is also the man who confirmed the H5N2 infection in the world.

 It is not known where he contracted the virus from.  He died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mexico City.  A WHO statement said the first laboratory-confirmed human death from influenza A virus has been reported globally.  The World Health Organization has said that the risk of the bird flu virus spreading to normal humans is low.

 He sought treatment after being bedridden for three weeks.  He was admitted to the hospital with fever, shortness of breath and diarrhea.  He was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and kidney failure.  Then he died while undergoing treatment.
