New York: U.S. President Donald Trump has imposed a ban on the admission of foreign students to Harvard University. The administration has also directed students currently studying at the university to transfer to other institutions. Failure to comply may lead to the cancellation of their visas, according to a warning issued by the Trump administration.
This move will affect around 6,800 students at Harvard, including 788 Indian students. The action has been taken in response to the university’s failure to comply with the new guidelines proposed by President Trump. Additionally, the U.S. has frozen $2.3 billion in funding previously allocated to the university.
“Granting admission to foreign students is a privilege, not a right. Harvard has forfeited the eligibility to enjoy that privilege by continuously violating the law,” stated U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem.
