New York – After multiple delays due to technical issues, the Axiom 4 space mission is now set for launch on June 19, according to ISRO. However, neither NASA nor Axiom Space has officially confirmed the date. The delay was reportedly caused by pressure-related issues aboard the International Space Station, which have now been resolved.
Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhamshu Shukla, whose mission was postponed five times due to rocket malfunctions, is among the crew. If successful, he will become the first Indian citizen to reach the International Space Station and the second Indian in space after Rakesh Sharma.
Shukla will be joined by Petty Whitson from the U.S., Slawosz Wisniewski from Poland, and Tibor Kapi from Hungary. The mission will launch from Kennedy Space Center in Florida using SpaceX’s Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket. The mission is organized by private aerospace company Axiom Space.
