Thiruvananthapuram: In the chilling Nanthancode massacre case, the Sixth Additional Sessions Court in Thiruvananthapuram has found the accused, Cadell Jeansen Raja, guilty. The verdict was pronounced today, with arguments regarding the sentencing scheduled for tomorrow. The gruesome incident occurred on April 8, 2017, at house number 117 in Bains Compound, near Cliff House, where retired Professor Raj Thankam, his wife Dr. Jean Padma, their daughter Caroline, and a relative Lalitha were found brutally murdered.
Kedal Jinson Raj is accused of killing his parents, sister, and relative in a heinous manner. Police investigations revealed that Kedal initially planned to murder his father, who he felt constantly neglected him, before deciding to kill the others as well. The murders were premeditated, driven by deep-seated resentment towards his family members.
The prosecution examined 92 witnesses and presented over 120 documents, more than 90 material exhibits, and scientific evidence in court. The defense’s claim that Kedal suffered from mental health issues was dismissed by the court based on a medical board’s report.
