Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala marked a significant step in space research as Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan laid the foundation stone for the Space Park’s Common Facility Centre and Research & Development Centre at the Technocity campus in Pallippuram, Thiruvananthapuram.
The Space Park aims to provide industrial-scale production support for institutions working in space research and attract investors in the space and defense sectors. Alongside the Thiruvananthapuram facility, similar centers are also planned in Kozhikode, Kochi, and Kannur. Sub-centers of the Space Park will also be established adjacent to existing space research institutions in Thiruvananthapuram.
The first phase of construction will include buildings spread over 2 lakh square feet on 3.5 acres, with an estimated cost of ₹244 crore to be funded through NABARD.
