Up to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 crore for those found guilty of irregularities in competitive examinations; The bill was passed

The Lok Sabha has passed the Public Examinations Bill, which will punish those found guilty of irregularities in competitive examinations up to 10 years and a fine of Rs 1 crore. Union Minister Jitendra Singh introduced the bill. There are 10 offenses in the bill including question paper leak. Impersonation, tampering with answer sheets, tampering with documents and tampering with rank list are offenses punishable with imprisonment.

Recently, the question papers of various competitive exams were leaked in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh. The bill stipulates that such cases should be investigated by an officer not below the rank of DySP or Assistant Commissioner.
