Bhubaneswar: Following an encounter with security forces, top Maoist leader Ganesh Uike and others were killed. Police have confirmed that the slain Ganesh was a man who had a bounty of Rs 1 crore on his head.
He was also a member of the Maoist Central Committee. There are reports that two women are among the slain.
The encounter took place in the Rampa forest area on the border of Kandhamal and Ganjam districts of Odisha on Sunday morning. The security forces launched a search operation based on confidential information about the presence of Maoists in the forest area.
