
Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe weather warning for Kerala, predicting widespread and heavy to very heavy rainfall across the state over the next five days. Authorities have sounded Orange and Yellow alerts for multiple districts as active monsoon conditions intensify, bringing severe downpours accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
According to the weather bulletin, isolated regions will face intense rainy spells. Residents in high-range zones and low-lying coastal areas are advised to stay highly vigilant against flash floods and landslides.
IMD Orange Alert Schedule (Very Heavy Rainfall)
An Orange Alert indicates a high probability of isolated, very heavy rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm within a 24-hour window.
- June 28: Idukki, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod
- June 29: Kannur and Kasaragod
- June 30: Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod

IMD Yellow Alert Schedule (Heavy Rainfall)
A Yellow Alert stands for isolated heavy downpours measuring between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm in 24 hours, often paired with gusty winds and sudden lightning strikes.
