Today Maha Shivratri; Bali Tharppanam in Aluva Sive Temple Continues

Aluva: In the Aluva Siva temple associated with Shivarathri, Bali Tharppanam' started from the morning. Aluva is set up in Manappuram with a total of 150 Bali Thara'. Around 2,000 policemen have also been deployed for safety.

Though the formalities usually starts after Shivaratri vilakku', Bali Tharppanam started from morning onwards.

After the afternoon, the devotees will come to take 'vritham' till the middle of the night. At 12 o'clock in the Mahadeva temple, Shivaratri lamp will be held under the leadership of Senas Parameswaran Namboothiri and Mullappally Subrahmanya Namboothiri.

It is estimated that around 10 lakh people will arrive to Aluva Siva temple today and tomorrow to sacrifice the memory of the ancestors.

According to the reports, thousands of devotees offered 'Bali Tharpanam' to the departed souls of their ancestors on the banks of Periyar River at Aluva in Ernakulam District, Parasurama temple here and Thirunelly temple in Wayanad.
