Two Muslim women are members of the American House of Representatives

Washington: The world witnessed some historic moments when the counting of votes in the midterm election in the United States progressed. Two Muslim women have been elected to the US Congress for the first time in the country's history.

The 42-year-old Rashida Tlaib- daughter of Palestinian migrants and   37-year-old Ilhan Omar a Somalian migrant were elected to the US Congress. Both are representatives of the Democratic Party. Elhan Omar was elected from Minnesota in Minneapolis. She defeats Keith Ellison as the first Muslim to be nominated to the US Congress. But Thlaib's success was predicted earlier.
