Doha: Indians no longer require a visa to visit Qatar. Only a six-month passport and return tickets are required to enter Qatar.

The officials announced this project to encourage air transport and tourism amid a two-month boycott imposed on the Gulf state by its neighbours.

80 countries, including India, do not need visa for entry into the country. The project is being developed by Qatar Tourism Authority as part of its plan to attract foreigners to the country.

Nationals of 33 countries will be allowed to stay for 180 days and the other 47 for up to 30 days.

Citizens of the US, Canada, Britain, Australia and New Zealand will also be able to enter Qatar without Visa. A valid passport with a validity period of at least six months is available to beneficiaries with recipients or on-board tickets.
