Emergency declared in Sudan for one year

Khartoum: Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir declared an emergency in the country for one year. The Emergency Declaration has been followed by protests against the President.

Umar Al Basheer announced the emergency in the country on Friday in a television program. He further said that the amendment for postponing his ruling in the country will be presented in parliament.

Since December 19, the country has been facing daily protests against the Bashir across the country. Around 40 people were killed in clashes between protesters and security officials. Thousands of people were taken into custody.
