Ramankari Magistrate Court remanded Fr. Thomas Peeliyanikal

Mangomb, Alappuzha:  Ramangari First Class Magistrate Court remanded Fr.Thomas Peeliyanikal who was arrested in connection with Kuttanad debt fraud case by Crime branch yesterday.

The police had arrested Fr. Thomas Peeliyanikal, Executive Director of Kuttanad Development Authority, in connection with the debt fraud by making fake signature of farmers. The arrest was under the direction of Crime Branch DySP.

The Crime Branch inquiry team summoned a number of times in relation to the case but he did not attend the proceedings pointing health problems. Meanwhile Fr. Thomas was taken into custody from Kuttanad development committee office.

In the case probe by Alappuzha District Branch branch, NCP leader as well as Veliyanad block panchayat member Advocate Rojo Joseph and Kuttanad Development Committee office worker Thresiamma are among the accused with Fr. Thomas Pealyanikal. Bank loan fraud was held on the name of rice cultivation. Investigations revealed that the money was collected by the fake signature in the name of farmers. The police investigation was in the complaint of Kavalam native Shaji.

In the case, more people will be arrested, reports said.
