New Organization for Women in Malayalam Film Industry has formed

Thiruvananthapuram: A group of Malayalam actress from the film industry come together to form an organisation for the security of the women in that field. After the incident occurred in the Kochi, related with abduction of a Malayalam actress, they claim, there were no security for women in that field also. From this organisation forming by the prominent actress in the cinema industry hoping that from this, will get the support from others in this field. According to reports, the organisation mainly led by the famous actress Manju Warrier, with others has talk earlier in this matter.  Taking the bull by the horns, Manju Warrier, Parvathy, Bhavana, Anjali Menon, Geethu Mohan Das, Vidhu Vincent, Rima Kallingal, Remya Nambeesan, Didi Damodaran, Surabhi Lakshmi and other prominent women who work in the industry have come together to form a group called the 'Women in Cinema Collective' to represent their interests. This is for the first time that there has been a concerted effort to do so in the Malayalam industry.

The Collective met Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and presented a memo requesting that a committee which will study gender disparity and employment conditions in Malayalam cinema be set up in the state. The CM assured that, measures to protect and produce facilities for women, will take as soon as possible.
