Supreme Court stays Lavalin HC verdict

New Delhi: Supreme Court stayed the trial of the accused in Lavlin case. The Supreme Court stayed the trial of Kasturirangara Iyer, R Sivadasan and R Rajasekharan. The High Court had earlier ordered the trial to be taken up, excluding Pinarayi Vijayan in the case. This order has stayed by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court accepted the CBI's plea in relation to the Lavlin case that excluded the one of the accused, Pinarayi Vijayan. The Supreme Court has issued a notice to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for further action. The Supreme Court has issued a notice to two others who have been acquitted by the high court. The notice was issued on the petition filed by the CBI in the Lavlin case. Though the case was considered yesterday, the lawyers' request has been shifted to today.

The CBI has approached the apex court against the high court verdict which acquitted seven accused in the Lavlin case, including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The CBI said that without the intension of the electricity minister, then, Pinarayi Vijayan, Lavlin deal should not be completed. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has demanded stay of the High Court order as an interim measure.
