Robbery of Gold worth over Rs 2.5 crore: The bank manager and his husband are under custody

Aluva: Assistant manager and husband who was surrendered at the Kozhikode Crime Branch office was remanded to police custody for a period of seven days as they were in the throne of arrest.

They robbed gold worth Rs 2.5 crore from a locker in the national bank of Aluva Bank.

Assistant Manager Angamaly Padukapuram Karumathil Sisol Joseph, 34, and Sajith Kunjan, 35, of Kalamassery Saji Niwas, robbed 9 kg of 128 packets of gold. The police asked the court to release them to custody. The gold is used for taking a loan in various financial institutions in Aluva, Angamaly, Perumbavoor and Kalamassery sectors.

The couple reached the Kozhikode railway station on Thursday morning while trying to catch the Kozhikode police with the assistance of the police at the Crime Branch office. Following that, Aluva police took custody.

The fraud is revealed on the last 16th. The couple then went into hiding in Goa, Panaji, Udupi, Bengaluru, Mangalapuram, Gokarna, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod. The surrendered after the money finished.
