Monsoon Rain: Death toll rose to 11 in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram / Thodupuzha / Pathanamthitta: The death toll in the calamity rose to 11. A tree fell in Mallappally in Pathanamthitta died a girl. Akshay (eight) is the son of Aranmula Parappat Ajeesh.

Sasidharan died on Saturday morning at Kattayikonam, Thiruvaanthapuram. Three each in Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur, two in Kasaragod and one each in Kozhikode, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta districts were died in the calamity.

The weather office said that heavy rains in the state would continue till Wednesday. The hilly areas have been alerted. The district collector on Monday announced the holyday for all educational institutions in the district except the professional colleges in Idukki.

In Kerala, it is possible to wind speeds of 40 to 50 km per hour and sometimes at speeds of up to 60 km per hour. By this the sea will be turbulent. Fishermen do not go for fishing in the west side of Lakshadweep and Maldives. It is also advised to take caution when fishermen go into fisheries.
