Thiruvananthapuram: Today, in the memory of the crucified Christians today join to celebrate Good Friday. Good Friday represents the apogee of the season of passion when Jesus suffered the ultimate humiliation of crucifixion on the cross; when he paid the ultimate price for the salvation of the world. The multitude of believers across the world today, and a succession of believers through the over 2000-year history of Christianity celebrate his death for its vicarious and atoning value. The trial in the Pilate palace to the grave is celebrated as the Good Friday.
According to the Gospels, one of the disciples of the Jesus Christ called Judas Iscariot had guided some temple guards to arrest the Jesus Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane. Judas Iscariot had received at least 30 pieces of the silver for doing such against the Jesus Christ. After getting arrested, Jesus Christ was brought to the Annas (father-in-law of the Caiaphas, a high priest). He was sentenced to death when nothing told in favor of him during the interrogation.
The worshipers join together for special prayer ceremony in the Church. According to believers, the Jesus Christ rose from the dead three days after his crucifixion.
In fact, some believe the term ‘Good’ actually originates from an older name for the day, ‘God’s Friday’.
