Gaja hurricane approaches Tamilnadu at high speed.  The cyclone is located near Nagapattinam, about 300 km from Chennai. 12,000 people were evacuated from the Tamil Nadu coast by the cyclone. 6000 relief camps have been started.

The weather forecast warns that heavy rains in Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Thanjavur, Thoothukudi, and Pudukottai should be followed by the cyclone. As a precaution, the electricity connection was disconnected in Nagapattinam. Several trains have been canceled from Chennai.

All systems are ready to deal with any emergency, the government said. A cyclone warning has been issued to educational institutions in the state even today. Anna University rescheduled exams on Thursday

The cyclone will hit the coast of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry on a speed of 80-90 km. Being a cyclone of low pressure, the Bay of Bengal may be a turbulent one.
