Jisha Murder case; Convict Amirul Islam Gets Sentence to Death

Kochi: Amirul Islam, prime and only convict in the Jisha, law student's rape-murder case, get punishment of sentenced to death by Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate court.

Kerala's Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court found Ameerul guilty on December 12 and the quantum of punishment was to be announced on December 14. Amirul Islam, was convicted of murder, rape, wrongful confinement and house trespassing in the Jisha Murder case. The court heard the verdict in the morning with the help of translator. But there was not much emotional expression on Amirul Islam’s face. The accused Amir brought to the court with a huge police companion. The judge then asked the accused to be remanded in custody of the court to his chamber.

Subsequently, the advocate N P Asha has sent the findings of the case to the accused in Hindi. Ameer said he was not guilty in the case.

The case pertains to the brutal rape and murder of Jisha, a law student from Perumbavoor on April 28, 2016. The chargesheet said that Ameerul killed Jisha when she resisted attempted rape.
