The court acquitted Veerappan in the case of kidnapping of Kannada actor Rajkumar

The court acquitted Veerappan in the case of kidnapping of Kannada actor Rajkumar. Police filed a charge sheet with 14 accused in the case. The court acquitted all 9 accused in the case.

The verdict in the case is 18 years. Many of the accused in the Veerappan's case are not living today. The incident took place on July 30, 2000. In 2004, Veerappan was killed and in 2006, Rajkumar died of a heart attack.

Veerappan and his team are kidnapped by Kannada superstar Rajkumar from Dodda Guanoor village in the headquarters. The accused have also been kidnapped by his son-in-law SA Govindaraj, his relative Nagesh and co-director Nagappa.

On September 28, Nagappa escaped. Two others were detained in the forest for 108 days and released in November. The 14 accused including Veerappan, close associates Chandra Gowda and Sethukkudi Govindan were among the accused.

Veerappan was murdered by an operation cocoon on October 18, 2004. Chandra Gowda and Govindan were killed in this encounter. Another accused Ramesh is still absconding.

According to reports, 42 witnesses, 52 documents and 31 gun are including evidence in this case. Additional magistrate K Mani observed Gobichettipalayam alleging that the prosecution failed to prove the crime. The court also questioned Rajkumar's wife Parvatma for not giving testimony.
