NGT Banned Dumping Waste in Ganga River

New Delhi: The National Green Tribunal has banned wastage on river Ganga and river banks. According to NGT, dumping of waste on the 500 meter level of the river will be punishable.

 A fine of Rs 50,000 will be imposed on violations. The bench presided over by the National Green Tribunal chairperson Justice Swathantra Kumar released the  most important order, over the protection of Ganga river.

The Ganga River in Haridwar to Unnao will be covered by the order. The Tribunal also banned the construction of the river in a 100 meter area of the river. Nature must be protected from this area. States have the full responsibility of protecting the river. The Tribunal directed the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand state governments to direct guidance on the issues to be observed while conducting religious rituals on the banks of the river Ganga and its tributaries.
