Debt Trap; 2 farmers commit suicide in Marathwada

Mumbai: Two farmer’s suicide over debt traps in Marathwada. A 60-year-old farmer committed suicide at Selu in Parbhani district. Shivaji Rodge of Rawalgarh was hanged to death on a tree on Wednesday morning. In a week in the Marathwada region, two farmers committed suicide due to bankruptcy.

From Monday onwards, Shivaji Rodgie was missing. The farmer was found hanging while his relatives were searching for him. Shivaji Rodgey, a cotton grower, borrowed a large sum of money from various banks and private money lenders for agricultural purposes. Because of the pest attack and harvesting, the expected yield did not come.

The relatives said that Shivaji Rodgie was under severe stress. Several times in government offices, we have not received any compensation. So he committed suicide.

Another farmer committed suicide in Yavatmal district in the Marathwada region last night. Cotton farmer Madhav Shankar Rawat (75) jumped into a pile prepared by him.
