New Delhi: Th court stayed the arrest of CBI special Director Rakesh Asthana. The court has also asked Asthana and CBI DSP Devender Kumar, who was arrested on Monday, to ensure safe custody of all evidence, electronic items, phones, laptops etc in their possession.

The Delhi High Court Justice Najmi Waziri directed this to the CBI. The verdict comes in the petition filed by Asthana seeking a stay of arrest. According to the reports, Asthana removed from the responsibilities.

The case was a bribe that was paid by a businessman named Sathish Sana so that the agency would go soft on him in a case involving meat exporter Moin Qureshi.

Rakesh Asthana, the number two in CBI, had alleged that the bribe that Sana was referring to was in fact paid to CBI director Alok Verma. Asthana had also approached the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) against Verma in this regard.
