We all know that the latest addition to the KTM Duke series – KTM Duke 390 has already attained much attention from the bike lovers and was recently launched with much fanfare. Well, let us see whether it has lived up to the expectations and the major changes that have been brought to KTM Duke 200.

Well, in terms of design, the outlook of Duke 390 is almost same as that of Duke 200. In fact, despite those changes in terms of a different color scheme and a slightly bulked outlook, which is understandable, no notable changes can be seen in 390. We might not be able to read the tiny display counter. With a tapered alloy handlebar, along with bright looking headlight, it is great looking especially at night. The seating arrangement in ‘390’ is in the shape of split ones.

You could see one – down and five – up, toe shifted pattern in gearbox. The ‘390’ is a little bit more relaxing bike to ride compared to ‘200’ as it comes with a close packed gear ratios. At the same time, the clutch pulls heavier than its predecessor with the likes of wider power band. The sporty character of 390 is such that the riding position is back upright.

The engine of this model is a newly powered 373.22 cc, single cylinder and a liquid – cooled mill that will pump 357kg of torque at 7000rpm and 43.5bhp power at 9000rpm. A six – speed gear box has been attached to the model and in this version, you need just 2.5 seconds to reach from 0 – 60 KM. And this kind of quick acceleration could only be availed in dreams when you compare those with the competitors.

When you consider the front suspension, the 43mm upside – down front forks are on par with standards, so is the alloy swingarm and adjustable monoshock rear ones. The tubeless Metzeler radial tyres offer excellent grip while riding out in difficult traffic conditions. The disc brakes fitted in Duke 390 are single 300mm rotor motor ones at the front disc brakes, while it is 230mm disc brakes at rear. Besides these disc brakes are designed as “four – pot and radial mounted” ones. And these folks will make you extremely happy when controlling this 154 Kg king sized ‘390’, especially with the twin channel ABS braking system which can also be switched off. The average mileage that this one could give you is around 30 Km, but is subjected for variation. The tank has a size of 10.2 Liter.

All is said about the bike, the price tag comes somewhere in INR 1.8 Lakh which might pull you back, if your pockets are not fat enough. But, if you are of the folks who loves riding bikes for the sake of satisfaction, this one might suit best to you.
