Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the government will take action against those who throw garbage in public places. Speaking to the representatives of the state’s local self-government bodies, the Chief Minister said that the local self-government bodies should find the required land for waste management and ensure source waste management before June 5.
The Chief Minister added that there should be a permanent solution to the waste problem by March 2024 and a new culture should be created in waste management. Since 2016, new steps are being taken in the field of waste management. The Chief Minister said that Harita Kerala Mission is the most notable among them. The Chief Minister added that the protests against the garbage plants were a tragedy. He demanded that the people should be convinced and corrected and the people’s representatives should be ready to remove the misunderstanding.
Local bodies should be able to be declared litter-free on Environment Day. Officers should ensure that the entire office is pollution-free. The Chief Minister also directed that all departments should play their role in waste management.
