Kochi: Bollywood actress Sunny Leone has been named as the prime accused in a financial fraud case. Sunny’s husband Daniel Weber is the second accused and manager Sunil Rajani is the third accused. The case has been registered under the sections of breach of trust, fraud, and embezzlement. Sunny Leone will be questioned again by the Crime Branch.
She is accused of cheating Rs 29 lakh by promising to attend various inaugural functions in Kochi. The complainant is a native of Perumbavoor. Shias accused that actress of extorting money 12 times since 2016, claiming she could attend events. The interrogation was led by a team led by Crime Branch SP Emmanuel Paul.
Following this, Sunny Leone was questioned by the Crime Branch. Sunny Leone told the Crime Branch that she did not attend the inauguration ceremony in Kochi on purpose. Sunny Leone had made it clear that she had been given five renewed dates after the scheduled ceremony did not take place but the organizers were unable to hold the ceremony.
The organizers postponed the event several times. It was later announced that the event would be held in Bahrain, but that did not happen. She came to the event on Valentine’s Day 2019, but the organizers refused to pay him the full amount due under the contract. The actress had said in her bail application filed in the court yesterday that this was the reason for not holding the event and that the charge of cheating would not stand.
The case was registered by the crime branch following a complaint lodged with the chief minister. The organizers have reached an agreement with the actress to participate in the dance finale on May 26, 2018, at the Greenfield Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. The event was abandoned with the permission of the actress due to adverse weather conditions. Remuneration has been reduced from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 25 lakh given the financial crisis. 19 lakh advance received. It has been decided to hold the event in Angamaly in February 2019. She agreed to attend the promotion of the event but did not attend.
